Teachers' Eligibility Test | Teacher's appointment|manoj kumar
ALLAHABAD: A bunch of special appeals pertaining to appointment of 72,825 assistant teachers in basic schools was released on Monday by the division bench comprising Justice Sushil Harkauli and Justice Manoj Kumar Mishra.
The special appeals would now be placed before the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court to nominate some other bench to hear the same. The question involved in these Special Appeals is as to whether the old criteria of marks obtained in Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) will be the basis of selection or the new criteria of quality point marks obtained by candidates in their academic qualifications i.e. high school, intermediate and graduation.
Earlier, a Single Judge had upheld the decision of state government to treat the TET only as eligibility criteria and had provided that the quality point marks will be the sole basis of selection on the above posts.
Aggrieved by the said decision of Single Judge, the petitioners - Akhilesh Tripathi and several others had challenged it by filing special appeals.
